How Can We Support All Women with Pride in 2022 and beyond?

NAAAP’s mission is to build leaders and the  Los Angeles chapter strives to shift the Asian American leadership landscape.  

Join us for this virtual panel event, hosted by NAAAPLA Women In NAAAP and NAAAP National Pride programming. In this panel event, we will learn and grow with our panelists as they share their personal experiences. 

  • We will hear the lived experiences of different women's identities.

  • We will hear the common assumptions people have about women. 

  • How can we support all women in the Asian community?

Mia Yamamoto bio:

(Formerly Michael Francis Yamamoto)

Born in Poston Relocation Camp, Arizona, 1943, Graduated from Cal State University Los Angeles, B.S. Government 1966. U.S. Army 1966-68, 4th Infantry Division. Mia, co-founder of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Southern California is a frequent media commentator on issues relating to criminal law and a variety of related issues for: (print) LA Times, LA Daily Journal; (radio) KPFK, KPCC; (television) KCAL, Fox, NBC, KCET, MSNBC, CNN, Court TV and other cable and foreign media.

Mia’s experience also includes classroom lectures, demonstrations and panel discussions, such as “Race and Criminal Justice”, George Washington University, for President Clinton’s Initiative on Race 1999; “Cultural Defenses” and “Lawyers in the Media” for the 1999 NAPABA

Convention Los Angeles; “Elimination of Bias” Consumer Attorneys of California, SF 2008 and Los Angeles County Bar Association 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2013.

 

Samantha ‘Sam’ Mark bio: 

"Samantha 'Sam' Mark (she/her) is a 4th-generation Chinese-Japanese-American, queer-identifying, cis-woman, who grew up in Monterey Park along the border of Montebello. She's no stranger to the SGV, but currently resides in the Antelope Valley with her partner. She is a Spiritual Entrepreneur, Virtual Assistant, DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging) Advocate and Community Builder and especially enjoys supporting her LGBTQIA+ and AANHPI communities! Building allyship through education, awareness, and relationship-building is one of her biggest passions. She would love to connect with anyone open to learning and sharing experiences for a common goal of inclusivity being a second-nature norm!
