Farm retirement schemes, the beef sector, the environment and the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) were all on the agenda at the Irish Farmers Journal's live election debate held at Tullamore Farm.

Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed, Fianna Fáil's agriculture spokesperson Charlie McConalogue and Sinn Féin's Matt Carthy all took part in the live debate on Monday 3 February.

Money for suckler farmers was a divisive point on the night, with Carthy and Minister Creed clashing on suckler supports.

A replacement for GLAS was outlined, with McConalogue saying a new REPS is needed to deliver on climate change objectives.
