Induction Hob

Each of the cooking areas is equipped with a system to detect the presence of a pan. The pan presence detection system recognises pans with a magnetisable base suitable for use with induction hobs. If the pan is removed during operation, or if an unsuitable pan is used, the display shows a symbol which seems like an underlined letter U.

Water

Tap water is safe to drink but you might find the taste unpleasant. We provide a Brita filter jug to enable you to filter your drinking water, ameliorating the taste.

In the case that you still prefer mineral water, the grocery shop in P.Boffa Street (just down Kunsill Popolari Street and turn right) can provide you with bottles of mineral water and your other daily needs.

In an island as dry as Malta, water is at a premium so please use wisely.

Oven/Microwave Oven

For more information on the oven please click here.

05

Fridge

You’ll find fresh milk in the fridge as part of the Welcome Pack.

Before you leave, please take out any things left in the fridge and freezer if they are open and bin them.

06

Laundry

There is no washing machine in the house but if you have some small washing to do by hand, we suggest using the bathroom sink, kitchen sink or the bucket under the kitchen sink. A clothes horse and an ironing board are located at the side of the kitchen pod. The iron is in the chest of drawers in the bedroom.

07

Kitchen cupboard surface

Please always make use of the wooden cutting board when using a knife and wipe any spillage on the kitchen surface to avoid staining. The longer a spillage stays there, the more it is difficult to remove.

The dish drainer also helps in helping maintain a spotless surface. Please wipe the drainer clean when you are ready.

08

Coffee & Tea

Tea bags and sugar can be found in the wall cupboards.

We also provide you with an Espresso Moka Pot and freshly ground coffee.

A moka pot has 3 chambers, one for water (A), one for grounds (B) and one for the finished product (C).

The bottom chamber is for the water. It should be filled to just below the valve.

The middle chamber is for your finely ground coffee. Pack it in lightly.

The top chamber is the collection point for the brewed espresso / coffee.

Use filtered water for a better coffee.

09

Slippers

We have provided complimentary slippers for 2 reasons. The first is to make you more comfortable - if you are used to fitted carpets back home, you might find the Maltese tiles slightly cool to your bare feet. This only applies in winter which is relatively short in Malta.

In summer tiles make for a pleasant cooling effect on your feet. The second reason is to protect the spiral staircase’s timber treads and timber balcony from getting damaged by shoes, especially those with heels. We'd appreciate it it if you would take off your shoes as soon as you enter the house.
