Want to gain real-world journalism experience? Collaborate with students across the Claremont Colleges to keep our community informed and connected — all with the support of experienced editors and the backing of a 133-year-old paper.

TSL staffers build professional skills and garner real-world working experience while helping produce an award-winning publication. No prior journalism experience is required to work at TSL; we train everyone, regardless of background.

Wherever your interests lie, you have a role to play at TSL. We welcome students from any of the 7Cs to join our news, arts & culture, sports, opinions, special projects, data, copy editing, design, photography, web, audience, graphics, multimedia, translate and business desks.

General applications for the Spring 2024 semester are now closed.

Any 7C student! We welcome everyone, regardless of background. If you’re interested in a role but not sure you have the right experience, please apply and we’ll make sure we find you a good fit.
As early as you feel ready! Interviews begin remotely the week of Jan. 9 and continue with an in-person option into the first week of the semester. Applications close Friday Jan. 20 at midnight. We especially encourage returning staff and those applying for senior staff roles to interview early.
It’s simple and easy! Start with our short application form. Then, sign up for a 10 minute interview — no stress, just a casual, informal conversation about where you would best fit.

Feel free to come to your interview with questions about joining TSL or a specific position. We'll also be happy to answer any questions over email whenever you have them: editor@tsl.news.
Interviews are in-person at our office, located at Pomona College's Walker Hall in Room 101. Zoom interviews are also available upon request.

Out of an abundance of caution, we'll be requesting that students wear masks during the interview process as students arrive to Claremont. TSL continues to follow the latest 5C guidelines regarding health and safety on campus.
We're always happy to address any questions you have about the application process! Let us know at editor@tsl.news.

There's a place for you at The Student Life.
