A message from Grant Haley of the LA Rams
and his mom, pediatrician and internist, Carla Neal-Haley, MD

Two years ago, the selfless act of a living donor saved my mom’s life.

I was playing football in high school when my mother, Dr. Carla Neal-Haley, was diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC), a degenerative disease that damages the bile ducts of the liver. Within a few years, the damage progressed to the point that she needed a liver transplant to survive.

Thankfully, a social media campaign started by friends led to a living-donor match. A local middle school principal who saw the call for help, selflessly volunteered to give the gift of life – donating a portion of her liver to replace my mom’s failing liver. Amazingly, the donor’s liver rejuvenates itself and will grow back to its original size in just a few months.

We're grateful that the American Liver Foundation (ALF) continues to serve the liver community.

Thousands of lives can be saved each year by a living-donor liver transplant just like the one my mom received. ALF is working to educate the public and raise awareness of this amazing gift of life. That is why ALF is my charity of choice.

You can help! Click on the DONATE button to support ALF's life-saving work.

Thank you for your continued support of ALF. Best wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season from my family to yours.

With gratitude,
Grant Haley
