Georgia Library Media Association is sponsoring one travel award to uplift and encourage diversity at the AASL National Conference and school librarianship.
Candidates may not have attended AASL before and must be able to add a diverse perspective to the field of school librarianship.
A one-of-a-kind conference, the 2023 AASL National Conference will feature daily keynotes, concurrent sessions, author panels, research into practice sessions, more than 100 exhibitors, the best practice IdeaLab, author signings, and endless networking opportunities. Content provided at the conference will be rooted in AASL's "National School Library Standards for Learners, School Librarians, and School Libraries." Details:
If chosen, you will be awarded $750 to be used towards travel expenses and registration to attend the 2023 AASL National Conference. This will allow you to secure housing, transportation, and/or registration.
Requirements:
1. This must be your first AASL National Conference & Exhibition and bring an inclusive perspective to librarianship.
2. You may not receive additional funds from ALA/AASL to attend this conference or have received the BTSB travel grant.
3. You must be an ALA/AASL member and a member of GLMA.
4. You must use these funds for the 2023 AASL National Conference. If you end up not attending, you will reimburse GLMA for the funds disbursed to you.
5. Following the conference, share your experience and what you learned via a blog post on the GLMA website or on a GLMA webinar.
The AASL National Conference, is taking place Oct. 19-21, 2023, in Tampa, Florida. Final decisions on grant recipients will be determined no later than July 31st.
