Wow. Amazing. And just to be sure, is this the best batch for the monogatari series on nyaa? Also for the english subtitles, you’ve included multiple tracks. Is there a track that’s clearly the best among them? I’m interested in the honorific tracks only.
@MoonlessNightss Yes this is the best batch currently. It uses Beatrice for season 1 (this could do with a better encode but currently nobody has done one, so this is as good as you’ll find). The rest use Kawaiika, which is generally regarded as the best.
For subtitles; you want to keep the MTBB (Honorifics) track for all seasons as these were only very recently completed and are “re-done” subtitles that fix all the major issues with previous subtitles (i.e. bad translation, fonts, timings etc.)
I would also suggest you keep the audio commentary track and matching subtitles (MTBB version) as unlike other commentary tracks, it has full “in character” commentary from all the major cast talking about things going on throughout all the episodes which makes for a good rewatch.
Okay so I’ll ask here for more visibility since this torrent is still new. Does anyone know where I can find subs for Madogatari? ReinForce seems to be the only that has it but it’s only raws https://nyaa.si/view/878842. There’s only Koyomi History that is subbed https://nyaa.si/view/1407742 (It’s the VNGATARi.mkv file in Reinforce’s release). But I couldn’t find anything else for the rest of ReinForce’s files.
For anyone that uses Plex and doesn’t want to rename any of these files to deal with TheTVDB’s terrible episode numbering/ordering for this series, download this file and name it .plexmatch and put it in the root of this torrent. Then after adding the folder to Plex, go to the show in Plex and click Edit (the pencil button), click Advanced, and change the Episode Numbering to “TheTVDB (DVD)” (which still isn’t great but much better than the “Aired Order”). You may also need “Refresh Metadata” on the show after doing this. Then just watch the episodes in the order listed in the .plexmatch file: S01, S09, S02, S03, S04E01-09, S05, S04E10-23, S06, S08, S07, S10.
If you prefer to keep the default “Aired Order” in Plex, then you can use this .plexmatch file instead, but it requires a lot of jumping back and forth between the “Specials” season to maintain this watch order.
@blacktide
I think that anyone that’s using plex for anime should use the Absolute Series Scanner and the HAMA agent instead of the default one that fetch data from tvdb. ASS/HAMA fetch their metadata from anidb instead. Still, for the monogatari series even anidb isn’t perfect, but it’s a lot better than what tvdb gives. This combination of scanner and agent also allows you to add anime movies to the same library as your anime series.
Now for this torrent, you’ll need to change your folder structure a bit, to fit what anidb has. This is the final result. Note that all of these are considered as different shows, and I’ve simply grouped them using a plex Collection, so that they could fit as one “thing” inside my library. The monogatari series: second season (which is the fifth show in the image I posted) is structured like that. Note that “monogatari series: second season” is considered as a show, but everything in it are considered as seasons from that shows (eg: nekomonogatari (shiro)). Plex would show them as “Season 1”, “Season 2”, … but I simply renamed them. This is how anidb structures them (and how most lists structure them too like MAL and anilist for example).
Here’s my folder structure (uploaded an image instead of a text file because I don’t know of any site that will keep the text file there without expiring). I’ve added the [Monogatari X] simply to have all my seasons sorted on my hard drive. Put it between [ ] so that ASS will ignore what I wrote there. I did the same for “monogatari series: second season” so that I always remember which season is which series. I also had to sometimes add [anidb-xxxx] because ASS/HAMA wouldn’t pick up the show, so this forces them to find it on anidb, with the appropriate show id (putting stuff between [ ] makes ASS ignore it, unless it’s [anidb-xxxxx] ).

Finally, for the metadata, HAMA does fetch them, but I preferred using different ones. I found this dropbox that a redditor made that gives a ton of cool poster. So I used them.
I think that’s the best way to organize your shows on plex because it gives a similar structure to what MAL gives, so it becomes easier to keep track of ratings/reviews/whatever over there.

14 episodes is ~10GB. Hope that the next release has the videos in x265 or a more space efficient method, the love for the series is clearly transmitted.
It’s already x265. And an average of 1.5 GB per episode seems reasonable to me, especially considering that storage is not that expensive. But feel free to wait for smaller batches. I even thought about doing it myself, but it wouldn’t be worth my time to do a version that for me is not ideal.
@MoonlessNightss for that Meta info file. Ya extracted it simply to sorted monogatari collection like on image you provided? Any platform you on I can discuss about that? (ie discord) https://i.imgur.com/ZFvvQ43.png . That’s how I put so far.
@DesoKyun For the metadata images I manually added it all in plex, I think there’s a way to make it automatic, but you would need to name the files in a certain way I think, and maybe put them in a specific folder, so I didn’t want to mess with that because it’d have taken me more time than just adding each poster manually. If you wanna message me you can pm me on reddit, I have the same username. I also have discord, but I don’t use it much. My username on discord is also the same as here (but idk if you only need my username to talk to me on discord, I don’t know much about it).

I see. Thanks a lot! I’m downloading and I’ll be seeding for while. Procrastinating on watching this series for years actually paid off lmao.

It’s never been subbed.

Hopefully one day Plex will implement the TVDB Alternate Order feature (which, for Monogatari, matches the exact order of this torrent), but until then this seems to be the best way to handle this series in Plex.

Thanks a lot for this release. I’m waiting for v2.1 to be finished, specially because of the Spanish subs.
