HIA-LI members are invited to participate in the Setup For Success Program with Smithtown Central School District, offering students valuable shadowing experiences in various career areas. This program aims to provide firsthand exposure to different careers, fostering experiential learning and career exploration. Transportation/Timing

All students are expected to provide their own transportation for the individual shadowing day career experiences. Parents will be responsible for ensuring that students arrive on time to the shadowing worksite. The Shadowing Career Day recommends that the experience show be approximately 3-5 hours in length and typically between 9am-1pm. The shadowing experience should not extend beyond the regular school day or 2pm.

Location/Setting/Safety

HIA-LI members will provide students with a shadowing experience in their workplace that provides them with opportunities to observe, witness, participate and learn about the selected shadowing day career. HIA-LI members will provide a safe work environment that will not allow students to participate in events or activities that would put them in any physical harm's way. All HIA-LI members must abide by the Federal and NYS Labor laws prescribed for individuals under that age of 18. We encourage the HIA-LI members to work towards creating a positive experience for all students who participate in this program.
