- 2. ▪An agenda that bears critical scrutiny: ▪It is universalistic, materialistic and tainted with exploitative, colonising agendas
- 3. ▪ 1989 the Hawai'i Ecumenical Coalition issued The Hawai'i Declaration on Tourism. ▪ It declared a “state of emergency in regard to the survival, the well-being and the status of the Native Hawaiian people” & the fragile natural environment of Hawai’i” ▪ “Tourism is not an indigenous practice; nor has it been initiated by the Native Hawaiian people. Rather, tourism promotion and development has been directed and controlled by those who already control wealth and power, nationally and internationally. Its primary purpose is to make money”.
