The House of Thunder Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars 6,238 ratings

A sanity-twisting Koontz classic about a traumatized woman and the terrifying place she might never escape.

“Koontz is brilliant.”–Chicago Sun-Times

Susan Thornton watched in terror as her lover died a brutal death in a college hazing. And in the four years that followed, the four young men who participated in that grim fraternity ritual also died violently—or so she thought.

Twelve years later, Susan wakes in a hospital bed. Apparently involved in a fatal accident, she can’t remember who she is or why she is there. All she knows is that her life is unfolding into a menacing nightmare—and that the faces that surround her, are those of the four men involved in that murder years ago.

Have the dead come back to life? Or has Susan plunged into the abyss of madness? With the help of her neuro-surgeon, she desperately clings to her sanity while fighting to uncover who—or what—could be coming for her.

Four stars due to the very abrupt ending but I did enjoy it. Funny that with most of his books I am annoyed with elongated endings!

Koontz never disappoints, he pulls you in slowly then slams you down to slid you over the edge swiftly, surely.

My kindle edition is HORRIBLY formatted. Paragraphs in strange places or no paragraphs at all....dialogs running into each other. Makes it a tad confusing wondering who is talking to whom. The actual writing just didn't seem up to Koontz's standard -( but I may have been spoiled by recently finishing Stanford's newest - and he is such a superb author.) I actually looked at copyright date, thinking this might be one of his earlier novels (which it is not). Not the worst book I've ever read, but I'd not recommend it to someone who had never read Koontz before.

This is a great mind twisting novel. The only negative about it is how long the chapters are and the editing to digital is off a little

Another book very well crafted by one of my favorite authors, Dean Koontz. At first I didn't know if I would like this one, but when I started reading it, I found it was really hard to put down. In bed at night I would plan on reading for maybe half a hour before turning out the lights for the night. Well, that "half an hour" turned Into a couple hours and I still wasn't wanting to stop. Give this book a chance. It has a really well thought out plot and well drawn characters. It will keep you intrigued and guessing until the very end. Try it, you will like it.

I have read nearly every book written by Dean Koontz, and this one just wasn't of the same quality. It was very difficult to figure out which character was speaking, the editing was terrible. I'm addition, the storyline was choppy and just not as riveting. I guess it's too be expected with age, but I miss the storytelling as it used to be.

Fantastic novel, well written, that keeps you guessing until the end. Dean Koontz at his best. A story that is impossible to put down until you have read it all.

J’ai aimé ce livre et les derniers chapitres étaient très bons et faciles à lire. Cependant j’ai trouvé le milieu du livre un peu long. J’aime beaucoup cet auteur bravo à votre talent!!!
