A LITTLE BIGGER THAN SMALL GAME
When considering a potential list of game, we can’t forget about the peskier critters such as raccoons, beavers, and foxes. Depending on the target’s size, we may find ourselves having to move up in power to .25 caliber, though .177 and .22 are still relevant in certain situations. The advantage to using an airgun in these types of hunts is the quieter report of each shot won’t spook any other game in the area.

MID-SIZE GAME
Bigger, meaner, faster. We’re talking about animals such as bobcats, coyotes, and boars, where we need a bigger punch. This is where .30 caliber ammo and airgun arrows really shine. Now, the bigger the game, the more difficult the hunt gets, so use every advantage you can get. In our experience, coyotes are best brought in with calls and a decoy. Boar can be baited using corn, which means – in some areas – you can find boar all over your deer hunting spot. Convenient.

BIG GAME
That massive whitetail you’ve been chasing all season reappears after weeks of going incognito. A hard hike across the mountain puts you in range of the perfect trophy elk. After a long flight across the pond you find an African cape buffalo in your sights. It’s times like these that your firepower needs to be every bit as beastly as what you are shooting at; that’s where our heavyweight airguns come in. Your equipment is only part of the equation, however. It’s essential to take the time to sight in your airgun, send practice shots downrange, and be knowledgeable about proper shot placement if you want to make a hunt successful.

When, Where, and What to Hunt with Airguns‌
The airgun industry is coming together through the Airgun Sporting Association to advocate for sensible hunting regulations. The ASA works with state wildlife agencies to target the development of regulations legalizing the use of big bore airguns for big game hunting and to help clarify existing regulations for small game hunting.

For many of us, nothing beats the simple pleasure of a morning trek through the woods in the search for small game. Whether it be rabbits, crows, or squirrels, you’re guaranteed a good time. Using a smaller caliber is essential; either a .22 or .177 will get the job done. This is where many of us are introduced to hunting, especially airgun hunters. Naturally, Umarex USA offers the top selection of perfect tools for beginners and pros alike.
