Buffalo, N.Y. — Upstate New York’s City of Good Neighbors is set to be the hottest housing market of 2024.

That’s the prediction just made by Zillow, which is betting Buffalo will be the hottest place to buy a house this year in the United States. The city edged out communities in Ohio, Indiana and Rhode Island for the No. 1 spot.

What is expected to make Buffalo’s housing market particularly spicy?

Each of the 10 communities on Zillow’s list are slated to have hot markets, where the demand for new houses is high but the number of homes for sale is low. But a recent increase in new jobs, steady home values and the number of newly-approved home construction projects are what sent Buffalo to the top of Zillow’s list, the real estate website stated.

“2024′s hottest markets all boast solid economic fundamentals, relatively fast-moving for-sale housing inventory, plentiful likely buyers and expectations for stable home values,” Zillow wrote.

Here are the Top 10 places Zillow expects to boast the hottest housing markets in 2024:

  1. Buffalo, N.Y.
  2. Cincinnati, Ohio
  3. Columbus, Ohio
  4. Indianapolis, Indiana
  5. Providence, Rhode Island
  6. Atlanta, Georgia
  7. Charlotte, North Carolina
  8. Cleveland, Ohio
  9. Orlando, Florida
  10. Tampa, Florida

Buffalo earned bragging rights from Zillow as this year’s hottest housing market just weeks after it was crowned the No. 1 city in America by Clever Real Estate.

The City of Good Neighbors was also recently named the nicest city in America by Reader’s Digest and one of the best places to retire in 2024 by U.S. News and World Report.
