Meet the Authors!
Born in London, Paul Stewart was a highly regarded author of books for young readers - everything from picture books to football stories, fantasy and horror. His first book was published in 1988 and he has since worked for a number of publishers and had over fifty titles published.
Chris Riddell is an accomplished graphic artist whose distinctive line drawings, with their clever caricature, fascinating detail and often enchanting fantasy elements are familiar to both children and adults. In addition to his children's book works, Chris is a renowned political cartoonist, whose work appears regularly in UK newspapers the Observer and the Guardian, as well as The Literary Review and The New Statesman.

Storytelling with Rabbit and Hedgehog
As adults, it is best to support children through prompting questions as you read the book together with your child. Through questions and interaction, children participate in the storytelling session and this sparks their interest to explore more stories and books!

Rabbit and Hedgehog were having a casual chat about the upcoming season - Winter. Rabbit will sure miss its dear friend - Hedgehog. But it was simply not otherwise, as Hedgehog will be hibernating.
Some questions you can ask to prompt children thinking:
Why would Hedgehog not miss Rabbit?
How long do you think will Hedgehog be asleep / hibernating?
Do you think you can miss friends when you are asleep?
Hedgehog longed to see and experience winter, but he was always asleep during the season! So he asked for a little favour from Rabbit to save him a little bit of Winter since Rabbit would be awake throughout winter.
Some questions you can ask to prompt children thinking:
Will forgetful Rabbit remember to keep his promise?
How do you think Rabbit will save winter for Hedgehog?
Rabbit almost forgot about the promise, but thanks to the message written on the tree by Hedgehog! So Rabbit tried his best to save some winter for Hedgehog.

Why do you think some parts of the message was missing?
Will the snow be kept safe with leaves and underground?
How would you save a little bit of winter if you were Rabbit?
At last, Hedgehog finally saw and touched 'winter'! Rabbit's sincerity paid off in the end. What a sweet friendship indeed!
