Good kettle, works well, good standard whistle. Sometimes the handle gets hot, as is to be expected. The shape is very pleasing to the eye, but it does mean you have to tip it almost all the way over to get the last of the water out, which puts your hand in the way of the steam -- I have had kettles that worked better in this regard, but it's not really a big deal to me. It holds a lot of water.
***UPDATE NOVEMBER 2019***
I have now had this kettle for five years, and frankly, I love it. The whistle starts off quiet and gets loud enough to hear from another room without being awfully piercing. The color did get dull - but I finally rubbed it with some baking soda and rinsed with vinegar and it's good as new! I still love the shape, and the handle really does get less hot than most kettles. And it heats up water very well haha.
Cuisinart looks classic, has a wide bottom, comes with extensive instructions for care, has a Max Fill line on outside, whistles nicely, and heats faster than last one. Unless you have severe hand issues, should be able to slide the spout cover knob on handle.
Cons - when spout cover lowers, it has a loud clang.
- Handle gets hot (instructions do say to use a pot holder).
- If you have hand issues, lid hard to get off (spout will fit my kitchen faucet).
If there were no loud clang when lowering spout cover, it is 5 stars.

First time use.....kettle doesn't whistle louder than a whisper ; you have to be right next to it to hear it!
Can't hear it at all from the dining room next to the kitchen.
This won't work for me ; I need to be able to hear the kettle whistle.
It's going back.
The body feels like it is good quality - nice and heavy - but the lid is a little cheap and it is difficult to remove and replace. I'm afraid I'll break it every time. It's made out of a thin metal and feels very flimsy.
Also, the mechanism that allows you to open the spout is a little rough and could have been made better. It is made out of thick plastic. It is durable, but it's awkward and for the money we paid, I feel like this mechanism should have been constructed better.
The whistle isn't loud at all. Even in the next room, I can barely hear it.
The manual says this should last a long time if we do two things: 1) Dry out the kettle after each use, and 2) Don't put the gas burner on too high because if the flames go up around the kettle, it will permanently discolor it and damage it. We're doing both of those things so it should last a long time, but I definitely won't buy this model again due to the lid and the spout mechanism. I am considering even returning it and getting something different, but I'm not sure yet.
