Our mission is to create deeper conversations and more vulnerable connections by providing intentional resources, events, and community for curious and optimistic students of life to fight adult loneliness and the myth that “making friends is hard!”
If you're here, I'm guessing that this mission resonates with you!
When I started Don't Be Strangers (DBS) as a podcast, it was my full-time passion project (on top of my actual 9-5 day job). As DBS grew to become a community with events, I realized that it'd become increasingly harder to manage my podcast if I didn't restructure how I work on it!
So here's my proposal -- anyone is still welcome to apply to co-host. But I'd love to collaborate with you on the full lifecycle of the production of your episode, from prepping to marketing and launching. ♽
What does this collaboration look like?
Both of Us...
- Prep for day of recording (coming up with questions), selecting a date/time, etc.
- Record! (1 hour) -- Selfie for Stories on recording day
Me...
- Edit + Produce the conversation ( ~5-6hours )
- Script intro + outro (based on relistening to the podcast via editing), record, edit in
- Publish (select a title)
- Send out Newsletter to announce launch
You... I will be resharing everything you post ✨
- Promote the book How to Talk to Anyone for Introverts (sharing with friends/your community). I'm on a mission to get to 100 reviews on Amazon, so I'm giving away free digital copies in exchange for honest feedback
- Pre-launch "Coming Soon..." Shoutout (email newsletter, social media post, or whatever you want!)
- Sharing on launch day! "Out Now!" (again, however you want to announce it)
- Post-launch Reminder "Have you heard?"
- Write a little email addressed to the audience to re-share in an email newsletter for your podcast episode. (Basically, I'll copy what you send me and I'll send this email out to my audience with a link to your podcast episode so people can "meet you" via your email!)
- (Optional) Would you want to do a workshop online or in person (wherever you're located!) with DBS for the community so they can meet you? We can work through logistics of this!!!
That's pretty intense marketing...
ok why? - I used to do all the steps after "Both of Us" by myself... needless to say, each episode was like... easily minimum 20 hours to produce. 😅 Now that I'm also coordinating events... the podcast can't go on if I'm doing all of it...
- I only want to collaborate with co-hosts who genuinely believe in this mission as well and also want to promote and spread awareness of it!
- I genuinely LOVE collaborating. And I love the idea of seeing what you'll create with the content pieces. And I love working with creatives who want to problem solve and make art!
- Event? If there is something you could workshop -- I think it'd be such a fun way to bring community together.
- Ads? I want to learn ads, and I think part of learning it is just doing it. But again, I'm at physical and mental capacity. So, if you wanna experiment with me and don't mind donating ~$20 (or more depending on how many days and budget we want to run the ads for), that'd be super fun too!!
