What is difference between Poems and Nursery Rhymes?

Poems are works written in verse, which seek to express emotions or impressions of the world to the author, where it is common to use rhyme and other language tools. Within the poems, we can find those that are epic, lyrical; there are in the form of odes, dramatic, love, friendship, etc.

What is sought with poetry, beauty and its manifestation through writing.

Nursery Rhymes for Kids

The rhyme is one of the most striking elements of the rhythm of a poem, it is the repetition of sounds from the last accented vowel of each verse and can be consonant or assonance.

The assonant rhyme Consists: in the repetition of vowel sounds from the last accented vowel of each verse.  For example, a verse that ends with the word “dream” rhymes in assonance with another that ends in “kiss”, “story”, “zeal”, etc.

The consonant rhyme Consists: in the repetition of all sounds from the last accented vowel of each verse.
For example, a verse that ends with the word “wind” rhymes in consonance with another that ends in “cent”, “story”, “I feel”, etc.

Little Things

Little drops of water,
Little grains of sand,
Make the mighty ocean
And the pleasant land.
Thus the little minutes,
Humble though they be,
Make the mighty ages
Of eternity.
So our little errors
Lead the soul away
From the path of virtue
Far in sin to stray.
Little deeds of kindness,
Little words of love,
Help to make earth happy
Like the heaven above.

A Happy Child – Best Short Poem

My house is red – a little house
A happy child am I.
I laugh and play the whole day long,
I hardly ever cry.I have a tree, a green, green tree,
To shade me from the sun;
And under it I often sit,
When all my play is done.

Love Between Brothers and Sisters – Best Poem to Recite

(A very short poem instructing siblings to love one another and not to fight.)
Whatever brawls disturb the street,
There should be peace at home;
Where sisters dwell and brothers meet,
Quarrels should never come.
Birds in their little nests agree;
And ’tis a shameful sight,
When children of one family
Fall out and chide and fight.

Aim High to the Sky – A Short Motivational Poem in English

Aim high to the sky,
In all that you do.
Because you just never know,
What it takes to be you.Be strong and be brave,
But at the same time be kind.
And always be sure,
That you’re using your mind.

The Violet – by Jane Taylor

(This short poem depicts a picture of humility as displayed by the violet.)

Down in a green and shady bed
A modest violet grew;
Its stalk was bent, it hung its head,
As if to hide from view.
And yet it was a lovely flower,
No colours bright and fair;
It might have graced a rosy bower,
Instead of hiding there.
Yet there it was content to bloom,
In modest tints arrayed;
And there diffused its sweet perfume,
Within the silent shade.
Then let me to the valley go,
This pretty flower to see;
That I may also learn to grow
In sweet humility.

Bed in Summer – Best Bedtime Poem for Kids

In Winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle light.
In Summer, quite the other way,
I have to go to bed by day.I have to go to bed and see
The birds still hopping on the tree,
Or hear the grown-up people’s feet
Still going past me in the street.And does it not seem hard to you,
When all the sky is clear and blue,
And I should like so much to play,
To have to go to bed by day?

A Farewell – Famous Short Poem for Children

My fairest child, I have no song to give you;
No lark could pipe to skies so dull and gray;
Yet, ere we part, one lesson I can leave you
For every day.
Be good, sweet maid, and let who will be clever;
Do noble things, not dream them all day long:
And so make life, death, and that vast forever
One grand, sweet song.

Brother

I had a little brother
And I brought him to my mother
And I said I want another
Little brother for a change.But she said don’t be a bother
So I took him to my father
And I said this little bother
Of a brother’s very strange.But he said one little brother
Is exactly like another
And every little brother
Misbehaves a bit, he said.So I took the little bother
From my mother and my father
And I put the little bother
Of a brother back to bed.

Eletelephony – Funny Animal Poem for Kids

Once there was an elephant,
Who tried to use the telephant—
No! No! I mean an elephone
Who tried to use the telephone—
(Dear me! I am not certain quite
That even now I’ve got it right.)
Howe’er it was, he got his trunk
Entangled in the telephunk;
The more he tried to get it free,
The louder buzzed the telephee—
(I fear I’d better drop the song
Of elephop and telephong!)

The Ants – Poem on Hardworking Ants for Kindergarden

A little black ant found a large grain of wheat
Too heavy to lift or to roll;
So he begg’d of a neighbour he happen’d to meet,
To help it down into his hole.
“I’ve got my own work to look after,” said he;
“You must shift for yourself, if you please;”
So he crawl’d off as selfish and cross as could be,
And lay down to sleep at his ease.
Just then a black brother was passing the road,
And seeing his brother in want,
Came up and assisted him in with his load,
For he was a good-natured ant.
Let all who this story may happen to hear,
Endeavour to profit by it;
For often it happens that children appear
As cross as the ant, every bit.
And the good natured ant who assisted his brother
May teach those who choose to be taught,
That if little insects are kind to each other,
Then children most certainly ought.

Try Again – Motivational Poems on Success

‘T is a lesson you should heed,
Try, try again;
If at first you don’t succeed,
Try, try again;
Then your courage should appear,
For, if you will persevere,
You will conquer, never fear;
Try, try again.
Once or twice though you should fail,
Try, try again;
If you would at last prevail,
Try, try again;
If we strive, ’tis no disgrace
Though we do not win the race;
What should you do in the case?
Try, try again.
If you find your task is hard,
Try, try again;
Time will bring you your reward,
Try, try again.
All that other folks can do,
Why, with patience, should not you?
Only keep this rule in view:
Try, try again.

I’d Love to be a Fairy’s Child – Fairy Tale Poem

Children born of fairy stock
Never need for shirt or frock,
Never want for food or fire,
Always get their heart’s desire:
Jingle pockets full of gold,
Marry when they’re seven years old.
Every fairy child may keep
Two strong ponies and ten sheep;
All have houses, each his own,
Built of brick or granite stone;
They live on cherries, they run wild–
I’d love to be a Fairy’s child.

Now We Are Six

When I was one,
I had just begun.
When I was two,
I was nearly new.
When I was three,
I was hardly me.
When I was four,
I was not much more.
When I was five,
I was just alive.
But now I am six,
I’m as clever as clever.
So I think I’ll be six
now and forever.
