SONY - Toy robot POIQ | CER-1000 - 2020+
Sony POIQ is the latest robot created by Sony in 2022, exclusively presented in Japan. It won an iF DESIGN AWARD that same year. It’s a rare AI Robot prototype, limited and collectible.
This POIQ robot is in excellent condition —a true collector's item for any Sony enthusiast or robotics and high-tech aficionado. An absolute rarity, especially considering that, to date, the brand has not announced plans to commercialize it, either in Japan or elsewhere.
The robot has been barely used. There aren’t any scratches. There is no wear on the main body, glass, and the wheels are in perfect condition with almost no dust. It looks completely new.
The plastic dome appears pristine and seems to have been protected thanks to its original plastic film.
Please note that Sony has ended the initial research program meaning that even if this robot is in perfect working order, for now it can’t be used (and may never be). That said, the robot powers on, and its eyes blink in a super cute way while gently moving up and down with varying light intensity. However, it doesn’t do much beyond that.
Delivered with its display dome (no box, no USB-C cable, no instruction) and an official Sony POIQ calendar. Delivering with Mondial Relay for most European countries or colissimo Monde (both solution will have tracking number)
Below, you’ll find more details and answers to all your questions.

What is POIQ? : POIQ is the latest creation from the iconic brand that brought us the Walkman, following in the footsteps of Aibo, Rolly, and even the Xperia Hello! robot (it actually draws inspiration from each of them in different ways). It’s an AI-based entertainment/companion robot capable of talking (Japanese), taking photos, dancing, singing, and interacting with users while learning and progressing.
The robot was produced and distributed by Sony as part of a research project aimed at developing and enriching the product (a beta-testing/early adopter program).
To join the program, participants had to enter a competition. The winners were able to pay an enrollment fee to received their robot. The robot I am selling here originally belonged to one of these winners, who barely used it.
Even though every POIQ model required the MySony ID of the original program winners to be used, it is possible that a future update from Sony could allow anyone to use it with their own MySony ID—if Sony ever decides to commercialize the product. However, this is not guaranteed.
The program launched in 2022, closed in 2023, reopened in 2024, and permanently ended in October 2024. Even in Japan, POIQ is no longer functional, even for participants.
October 2024: The app that controls the robot ("MyPOIQ" on Android) became limited in functionality.
December 2024: Sony has terminate support and remove the app entirely.
