Last November, we announced La Basilica di San Pietro, the AI-powered digital twin of St. Peter’s Basilica, and now, we’re launching an immersive learning experience all within the world of Minecraft. Created by Minecraft Education in collaboration with Microsoft and Vaticano, Peter is Here: AI for Cultural Heritage allows students to explore 2,000 years of architectural innovation. In this interactive journey, students step into history as caretakers, using simulated AI tools to restore everything from ancient Roman engineering to Baroque masterpieces. With guidance from historical figures like Michelangelo, learners can repair iconic structures, uncover hidden stories, and actively contribute to preserving cultural heritage. This project showcases how AI and technology are helping educators and students bring history to life, making iconic sites and cultural heritage accessible to future generations. Very proud and happy to share our latest paper on Proteins. Proteins are the tiny machines that power life, from helping us fight infections to breaking down food for energy. But many proteins don’t work alone, they come together in complex structures called homo-oligomers. Understanding how they assemble is key to unlocking breakthroughs in medicine, biotechnology, and disease research. Until now, predicting these structures has been slow and difficult, relying on time-consuming experiments or computational methods that require significant resources. That’s where Seq2Symm comes in. Developed and led by Meghana Kshirsagar from our Microsoft’s AI for Good Lab in collaboration with Nobel Prize winner David Baker, Seoul National University Professor Minkyung Baek , MIT Professor Bonnie Berger, and University of Pennsylvania Professor Gregory Bowman. This new AI model based on ESM2 can predict protein structures faster and more accurately than ever before—analyzing 80,000 proteins per hour. This is a major leap forward, allowing researchers to study millions of proteins in ways never before possible.

According to a recent report based on a survey of 402 healthcare organizations, 67% experienced a ransomware attack in the past year. Rural hospitals play a vital role in healthcare access, and a cyberattack can negatively impact the much-needed health services they provide. Strengthening security in these critical institutions requires solutions that address their unique challenges. Through the Microsoft Cybersecurity Program for Rural Hospitals, we’re providing tailored security assessments, training, and essential tools to help mitigate risks. We are providing more than 550 rural hospitals with cybersecurity risk assessments and equipping frontline and IT staff with basic cybersecurity best practices—a critical step in building resilience. Today we’re releasing a new report on the cybersecurity landscape for rural health, our learnings in the first year of the program about the significant cybersecurity threats rural hospitals face, and the role technology companies can and must play in addressing those threats. Protecting rural hospitals means protecting the communities they serve. https://msft.it/6041q1Btb
