Dear
Suspension and review of Airports National Policy Statement
1. Thank you for your letter of acknowledgement of 7 January 2021, and your further letter dated
18 January 2021.
2. We are disappointed not to have received a substantive response to our clients' request given
the Secretary of State for Transport has had a month to consider our letter. However,
in the circumstances, we think it is reasonable to give the Secretary of State and the relevant
Department for Transport officials a further short window to respond.
3. On that basis, we would be grateful for a response as soon as possible and, in any event, by 4pm
on 1 February 2021. We think an additional two weeks (being the usual time period for
responding to any pre-action correspondence in judicial review proceedings) is sufficient for our
clients' request to be fully considered. If we do not receive a substantive response to our request,
or if the response fails to address our clients' significant concerns over the Airports National
Policy Statement, our clients intend to commence judicial review proceedings.
Yours faithfully
Hausfeld & Co LLP
