The best Otome game on the Switch so far
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have not played this version of the game yet, but I did put 100+ hours into the ps4 version. I loved this series so much I had to buy it on another platform! This isn't your usual video game where there is combat, a grinding system or missions to complete. This game is a "visual novel" that plays like a book with lots and lots of pretty, colorful pictures. The game is 100% fully voice acted (except for Cardia the protagonist.) The game is set in a fantasy 18th or 19th century (can't recall which right now) steampunk Victorian England where Cardia, a girl with a "poisonous touch" has been sheltered her whole life in a house in Wales. One day her father, the genius scientist and "Modern Prometheus" Isaac Beckford mysteriously disappears without a trace and the British Military believes Cardia to be the key in finding her missing father. Arsene Lupin, as his name goes, steals her from the military and whisks her away to London, promising to help her find her father. There she meets the other eligible bachelors who are equally enthusiastic in helping her along her quest. All the handsome suitors are based off their famous novel counterparts, such as Impey Barbicane, Abraham Van Helsing, Saint-Germain, and Victor Frankenstein. I found myself not wanting to put the game down and completing all character's routes as quickly as I could. Every route was as interesting and compelling as the last, and every suitor had their own tragic backstory that didn't feel forced or shoehorned into the plot. The game had a wonderful balance of serious and silly moments and Cardia soon became my most favorite otome protagonist. Other protagonists sometimes fell flat, were one dimensional and annoying. But Cardia feels like she pulls her weight and is the driving force of the plot. She's equally as charming as any of the male suitors and I can see why it was easy to fall in love with her. I only had two issues with the game and that was all the typos in the ps4 version that ruined the immersion at times. I could only hope that got fixed in the Switch version. The second issue was how boring Arsene Lupin's route was. Warning: kind of spoilers, but you unlock Lupin's route after playing the other 4 suitors first. In the other routes he threatened the suitor you picked to take Cardia from them. Regardless of who you picked, he was supportive and loyal to Cardia until the end. But in his own route he's indecisive and lacks the confidence in the other routes. He's flawed and that's perfectly fine but his route felt like a big let down after the other 4 routes. His route was supposed to be the one where Cardia's origins and Lupin's motivations are explained and how their stories intertwine. Yet he doesn't feel like an adequate main suitor deserving on being the center of the box art. I feel like that title should go to Victor (even though Van Helsing is my favorite.) Overall, I recommend every other route except Lupin.

I own this game for 3 systems
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly I love this game so much. I own it for the PS Vita, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. The story is phenomenal and I love that they use many characters from fiction. I still haven’t played the sequels/fan discs yet, but I’m sure they’re just as wonderful.

Different I must say from my gaming type
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would say this is something you must like to play this sherlock type game. It must not be fast pace as one wants but if your like mystery type games this is one to get.
