    Did you know Sam Raimi, visionary Director behind The Evil Dead and the Spiderman Trilogy one time made a western? Not only that but its absolutely amazing! This week we are heading to the old west to review 1995's The Quick and the Dead. A gunslinger revenge film with one of the deepest rosters of amazing actors. From complete unknowns like Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio to established A-listers like Gene Hackman and Sharon Stone. This film packs a literally punch and pays homage to the spaghetti westerns of yesteryear but with Sam Raimi's visual style. You get the insanity that is Monkeybone. This dark fantasy/gross out comedy stars Brendan Fraser, Bridgette Fonda, the voice of John Tutoro, and zombie Chris Kattan and when it released in 2001, it failed at the box office and marked the short end to Henry Selick’s live action career. But does this movie deserve all the hate? And are there elements of Monkeybone that critics in 2001 just didn’t get?     Is Valentine (2001) an Underrated Slasher or Early 2000's Trash?

    It's Valentine's Day (well...a few days after) and what better way to tell someone you love them by scarring them for life at a 6th grade dance so that they grow up to be David Boreanaz with a bloody nose and make it their mission to murder you with hallmark greeting cards while wearing a cupid mask. This week, we are talking about Valentine from 2001. One of the last major slashers of the early 2000's that was playing off the coat tails of Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Urban Legend. Valentine, (directed by Jamie Blanks of Urban Legend fame) tells the story of Paige, Dorthy, Lilly, and Kate who are stalked by a mysterious masked killer mask who could very well be a a specter from their past (sound a bit familiar). Starring Denise Richards, Marley Shelton, Jessica Cauffiel, Jessica Capshaw, Katherine Heigl, and David Boreanaz (at the height of his Angel/Buffy fame) this movie failed to land back in 2001 but does this movie truly suck or is it simply an underrated slasher way ahead of it's time?
