Landry Love #4

The Love Words

Rate this book
Chloe Caldwell was my nemesis in high school. Or maybe I was hers.

I met Chloe during one of the worst times of my life and she called me out as the troublemaking, mischievous jerk I was. After eight years, she still hates me.
But I’m not some punk kid anymore.

I have a daughter to raise, a life to build. Unfortunately for Chloe, that life is in her hometown. The same small town she left years ago.
Now she’s back and to everyone else, she’s the same delightful, kind-hearted girl.
That’s not the Chloe I get.

No, I get the woman hell-bent on vengeance. Her attempts at putting me in my place only make me want to smack her sweet, sassy backside. I crave her salty attitude and angry jabs.

When our animosity starts affecting my daughter, a truce is formed.
Hot, needy glances slowly replace scathing glares.
Still, I don’t dare hope for more. Even if everything inside me is aching to explore her, possess her—I can’t. Because I know she would want it all. She’d want all things I’ve never given to any woman before her.
She’d want all my love words.

dnf @ 95% 🤡🤡🤡

Amy Alves strikes again with the monumentally brutal and cruel breakup scenes which ruin my enjoyment of the entire book🥲

first 80% = 4 stars
last 20% = 1 star :)))))

i was prepared to write a gushing review with how obsessed i was with Hayden and Chloe, how their love was so beautiful, all-consuming and heart-felt... then their inevitable breakup happened and now i feel like the biggest goddam clown🤡

the main reason i didn’t fully enjoy the previous three books is why i ended up regretting even picking this book up— the breakup scene most romances seem to require are written so callously and cruelly by this author that in the end... i don’t want the MCs to end up together. i end up wanting the wronged MC to pack their shit up and never forgive the other person😭

and i was so scared it would happen here, but i thought it wouldn’t since i was LOVING this. so much.

but some fool i am, huh? bcos Hayden is a fugly bitch who doesn’t deserve Chloe😌 disrespectfully.

the things he said to her and the way he broke up with her? the callous disregard for her was astronomical. all the romantic squishy feelings i had towards him with all his charm and sincerity swiftly left the chat🏃‍♀️my feelings really said *shes a runner, she’s a track star*

i am just gonna *briefly* (i realise reading this over that my bullet points are in fact, not brief at all🤪) bullet point below the things he did and said bcos if i go into too much detail i might fight a bitch, potentially several bitches at once.

🥲 begins to ice Chloe out bcos she didn’t answer her phone and was late getting to the hospital after his daughter had an asthma attack. she was asleep after babysitting a newborn for two whole days and nights, while also working full time as a paediatrician— i did understand his initial fear with so many heightened emotions ... but after like a day of him acting like a nasty little bitch i was over it.

🥲 he doesn’t even TALK to Chloe. like literally doesn’t even communicate with her that he wants space but just actively avoids and ignores her, using the guise of his sick daughter to keep Chloe away while she respected his boundaries despite being confused.

🥲 finally sees Chloe in person but again doesn’t speak to her while she interacts with his daughter, Kinsley, who tells Chloe that her and her dad won’t be seeing much of Chloe anymore bcos that’s what Hayden has told Kinsley— but HE hasn’t even fucking told Chloe. who in turn is just sat there like 👁👄👁 then leaves Hayden’s in tears while he watches her sob xxx

🥲 still hasn’t spoken with Chloe in about a week, maybe two weeks by this point and only sees her for Kinsley’s doctor appointments as she’s Kinsley paediatrician. Kins invites Chloe to do something with them and Chloe gets all smiley and excited looking up at Hayden... only to find him staring blankly at her and basically saying no to them all spending time together. with poor Chloe devastated.

🥲 FINALLY at this town fate thing, Chloe is like bro wtf is going on either communicate or just break up with me. and this is where i lost my ever loving mind, you see: i am just gonna include some quotes bcos i think they explain things pretty perfectly🙃

”You broke the news to Kinsley first? You wanted your daughter to break up with your girlfriend?” Her hand covers her mouth as she stares at the ground.

“You know that I more than care about you, Hayden. I love you. I fell in love with you. Both of you—you and Kinsley. I don’t want to step back. I’m fully invested. I want more time, more feelings, more of everything. A consuming love, a life filled with joy, frustration, companionship, hot sex, sweet intimacy, and a crazy, fun family. I want it all. How do I step back from that? I don’t want to press pause on my heart or my life. I’ve done that and it doesn’t work. I want to give you what you need right now, but that comes at the expense of my own feelings.”
[...]
“That sounds like quite the dream, Chloe. One I don’t think I can deliver on.” [...] “I’ve never experienced most of that, and I turned out just fine. So if you hoped you could check off some of those boxes with a built-in family, you’re probably going to be disappointed.”
Her eyes widen, and she takes two steps back from me. “Are you serious? After everything I just said about wanting to be with you and my dreams of what we could be, you say that?”

(that last one sent me over the edge bcos he basically said he hadn’t experienced any of that all-consuming love... including with her👁👄👁)

“You’re not Tara, [his daughter’s mother]” I mumble, mostly to myself. Chloe’s sharp intake of breath has me turning to her, tears filling her eyes.
“Wait, Chloe, you’re taking that wrong. I was actually—”
“No, it’s fine. You’re right. I’m not her mom, but I was hoping you’d give me the chance to be in her life in that capacity.”

🥲 then proceeds (or intends to proceed) to have Kinsley reassigned to another doctor without telling Chloe, just goes and asks her receptionist instead. and poor Chloe is devastated and starts crying at her office thinking Hayden doesn’t want Kinsley around Chloe and vice versa.

🥲 Chloe sobs privately in her office almost everyday for roughly a month straight :’)

🥲 oh did i also forget to mention how often she told him she loved him and this big dumb fuck literally never said anything back. even tho he claimed to love her in his inner monologue? so when he “grovels” (i use that term very, very, very loosely) believing his love was unconvincing since he never told her when he had ample chances— and this pissed me off BCOS this man has been pining after Chloe since they were like 16 years old? that’s why i loved this so much to begin with bcos that man was a simp for her when they were teens, literally being the biggest dumbass to just garner an ounce of her attention. so for such a long time i loved how they loved each other... until he just ruined it🤷🏻‍♀️

🥲 Sean spitting facts: “Chloe put her past behind her, came back, gave your sorry ass a chance, and then you bail on her? Am I getting that right so far? Because it sounds like you did to her exactly what so many have done to you.”

“Now go watch your daughter and the woman who would have given you all of her love if you’d given her a chance.”

soooo, one blow after another beat the ever loving shit out of me and Chloe. and resulted in resigned indifference on my part... how far i have fallen. i truly jinxed myself here thinking finally a book by this author that wholeheartedly worked for me... only for that hope to be snuffed out by Hayden’s lack of brain cells😌

then with the resulting “grovel” i didn’t like the whole town helping him win her back— initially they helped her steer clear of him, but SHE made it abundantly clear that she didn’t want to be around him. so all of them breaking the firm boundaries she set bothered tf out of me.

it’s definitely a pet peeve of mine in romance when a character rightfully feels a certain way— hurt, angry, betrayed, devastated... whatever it may be, then all the other characters TELL them how they SHOULD feel just to get said character to forgive the other person that much quicker.

it ain’t character growth or development... *whispers conspiratorially* it’s just lazy writing.

sincerely, from me, fuck off. if i express that i feel a certain way, that is in no way an invitation for you to tell me how you think i should feel or react. so the townspeople basically telling Chloe to forgive Hayden? fuck that.

and Hayden using his daughter to low-key manipulate Chloe into not moving and forgiving him? erm, low blow mate. yeah, just make a seven year old do all your dirty work bcos you’re a grown man who can’t handle ✨feelings✨

so the lack of grovelling was pitiful. embarrassing really. are you not embarrazzed? this is really embarrazzing.

that’s why i had to dnf with five percent of this bad boy left. i would rather live in blissful ignorance that Chloe did in fact leave town, moving away somewhere fresh and met a sexy, kind, respectful man and had all his cute lil babies while Hayden has to hear through the gossiping grapevine of The Landry League all about how Chloe has moved on and forgotten his entire existence. while he lives forever alone and in a constant state of regret :)

the happily ever after ending? i really said “no❤️”

It was fine, it was an average read. There was nothing overly spectacular about it and nothing terrible about it.

I read it because I wanted a light hearted rom com and someone had just posted it in a book group I’m in as a “single dad small town romance rec” and if anything is a light hearted rom com, it’s normally the small town romances.

It ended up not being quite a lighthearted romcom, there was a ton of conflict. I strongly dislike when there is a conflict at the end of the book that isn’t resolved until the last 4/5% and then the book ends and there’s just an epilogue and that is exactly what this book did lol. I just feel like if you’re going to put 20% into a conflict at the end you need to spend more than 4/5% reselling us on their relationship.

Also, there was so much unneeded detail through out this book. Literally probably 100 pages of this book are filed with just details, all that space could’ve been used to end it better.

I do want to add as well this is a series and I did not read any of the previous books before this. They are all stand alones so technically they’re not needed. But I’m sure actually reading them and knowing the side characters better actually makes the book better.

The Love Words, book four of the Landry Love series by Amy Alves, was filled with so many of my favorite tropes: small towns with nosy neighbors, interconnected friends and families, misunderstood bad boys, single dads, enemies-to-lovers, and of course, romance!

I found Amy by reading the first book in this series, The Experiment, and then binge read the others in just a few days. While this could be read as a standalone, I encourage you to start at the beginning and get to know the residents of this wonderful town. The author has great comedic chops and the pages are filled with witty banter and one-line zingers, as well as emotional, heartfelt dialog, and lots of flirting and steam! All the feels!

In The Love Words, Chloe Caldwell moves back home to Landry from California after earning her degree as a physician’s assistant. She is smart and passionate, and agreed to work with her older brother Garrett in his private family practice. Garrett, FYI, is a very handsome single medical doctor so I am hoping he finds love, too. Chloe’s brother Jess was featured in the Experiment and is now married to the girl next door, Emma, whom I adored.

Hayden Daniels, our hero, meets Chloe in high school and was a thorn in her side from day one. The author does a great job going back into the past describing her irritation and why she still holds a grudge, eight years later. I love the dual first-person point of view and how he was her stealthy superhero all along, even at the risk of his own reputation and happiness.

We are all a product of our upbringing and there are reasons Hayden (or Hades as she likes to tease him) is the way he is. As you progress through the book, you will find that this arrogant, troubled teen was selfless, mature beyond his years, and truly a man of great character.

I LOVED Hayden. He tried and tried to talk to her and set things straight and she refused. He made every effort to make her feel safe and comfortable, even when she was being uncharacteristically cruel and bitter towards him. Let’s just say you don’t want to get on Chloe’s bad side, like not ever! LOL. He took it all and never backed down, and when they were forced to spend time together as Chloe was his daughter’s medical provider and softball coach, he demanded she treat Kinsley with respect. I feel this was a major turning point for their relationship, and love that Chloe could admit when she was wrong and work on improving her behavior.

They had always had an insane chemistry and shared a physical attraction to one another, but never dated. The sexual tension was smokin’ and could be felt on every page. But how could she possibly think of liking the man who was responsible for her biggest heartbreak and embarrassment as a teen? She is older and wiser now and should not be affected by his strength and charm, or the fact that he is an amazing sexy single dad. But she is...

Kinsley was so adorable and added so much warmth to the story with her optimism and energy. I loved all of the secondary characters and townsfolk, and was totally invested in their lives! I loved how they took a chance on each other even though it was so unexpected. This book is about their journey because it is not easy, especially when they share a past and a young child involved.

Hayden’s hesitation with commitment was a bit extreme, and I did want to smack him a time or two towards the end, but everything happened, as it should, with these two experiencing tremendous character growth. My heart hurt for Chloe after she was all in, and you will have to read for yourself just what happened, and how this wonderful book ends.

Wow, I definitely just found my newest book boyfriend. Hayden is what dreams are made of- sweet single dad with a bad boy side 😏🔥 The steam between Chloe and Hayden is off the charts- seriously, their intimate scenes left me needing a cold shower🚿 But their love for each other had me melting 🥰 Amy did such an amazing job conveying their love & chemistry through the pages.

This is one of those series that not only immerses you in the main characters’ lives, but the lives of their family & the town. As always, I can’t wait for more from the town of Landry and their nosey community 🤣 I have a feeling I know who’s story is coming next… 🤫

Review: If you’ve been reading the Landry Love series from the beginning, then you’ve met Chloe a few times and with the last book, we even got hints of Chloe and Hayden. And I’ve been anxiously waiting to see their story! And Amy Alves did not disappoint! I also think this might be the steamiest of the books, especially considering I thought Lauren and Taylor were wild and free. But Chloe and Hayden take things up to a whole new level. I mean...the places they go and the things they do… *fans self*

In true enemies-to-lovers fashion, the book kicks off with these two butting heads. I’m a big fan of characters spending most of their lives pranking each other, pissing each other off and making a big scene about it. Chloe and Hayden have always been at each others’ throats about almost everything. They poke at each other, prod and tease, they make it a public thing for the whole town of Landry to witness and they don’t hold back. And if you know the town of Landry, then you know they’re all watching closely, waiting for the other shoe to drop and for everything to make sense for these two. Obviously their reasons for hating each other don’t become clear till much later, but under all this animosity, there’s this burning sexual tension that they can’t seem to ignore. But thanks to all these shenanigans and antics, Chloe and Hayden leave Landry to make new lives for themselves, only to return to town years later as changed people. Hayden has a little girl who is his whole world and Chloe’s got a job with her brother’s clinic - FYI, Chloe is the younger sister of Jess (from The Experiment ) and Garrett (who we’re getting a book about soon!).

Being back doesn’t mean their pranks are done, but now, the entire town is watching and contributing in hopes of putting them together. I missed the Landry League in the last book ( The Forever Plan ), so to have them ten-fold in this was amusing. This is what I love about small towns in romance - everyone gets involved and everyone has an opinion. But there isn’t a single group of people in romance that can compete with the Landry League. They are everywhere, always butting into Chloe and Hayden’s lives and giving them opinions on what should happen. But they’re also made up of some of the best people, so it’s easy to forgive them.

Chloe and Hayden’s story is a delicious slow burn, because the first half of the book is them snapping at each other. But because we get both their sides of the story, you also get to watch Hayden pine for Chloe. This man has been pining for her since he came to Landry the first time around, so none of this would surprise anyone. And as you can imagine, all that frustration and sexual tension is bound to explode and turn into something fantastical. Their chemistry is through the roof and I absolutely loved watching them fight their attraction. That first kiss is truly mind blowing and every physical interaction after that is incredibly powerful.

Hayden is an incredible character and that probably comes with him being the most devoted father with a bad boy streak and a motorcycle to boot. I loved how much he loved his daughter, because that really speaks volumes about who he is as a person. In his life, Kinsley always comes first, and he’s not going to let anything or anyone break that bond. And Kinsley is a precocious seven year old who won’t sit back and let her father do everything for her. The kid is loud and opinionated and I absolutely loved their relationship. While Hayden is the focused and dedicated father, Chloe is the gorgeous and sexy tornado that is going to upend his life. I loved how long she held onto her attraction to Hayden for, because girl, that is some serious will power and I am impressed. But she’s also dedicated to her job, to helping around town as much as possible. Chloe gives and gives, without asking for anything in return. She’s the town’s favourite resident because there is nothing Chloe will not do to help out.

Reading The Love Words made me feel all the feels. While it took me a little time to really get involved in the story, I enjoyed seeing these shenanigans play out. I am constantly wondering what I can do to be part of the Landry League, because they are a riot. And I am so happy that we got to see Emma and Jess and Lauren and Taylor (from The Denial Game ) as well, because those four are what made me fall in love with this small town, these books and Amy Alves’ writing.

Thanks to Amy Alves for generously providing me with an advance copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Be still my heart!! I was ready to burst with all the tears….Hayden may play as a bad boy who likes to terrorize the town princess but he is probably the sweetest, most amazing alpha Chloe has ever encountered. Plenty of steam, small town romance, with a HEA and an epilogue.

Love that Chloe goes in with a take no prisoners attitude after being totally humiliated as a teen. She’s smart, successful and finally starting to find her groove, so the last thing she needs is more of Hayden’s pranks and embarrassment.

Hayden wants his little girl, that’s right, Mr. Bad Boy has a little girl, to be raised in a place that finally felt like home to him. Now that Chloe and him are once again in the same town, maybe she will finally let him explain his teenage angst towards her.

Such a sweet enemies to lovers story. The pranks are fun, the romance is sweet and the chemistry is combustible! This series has been amazing and I can’t wait for the next one!!

The Landry Love series continues with this enemies to lovers, single dad, small town romance. If you haven’t read any books in the series yet, trust me, you are going to fall in love with Landry and all it’s meddlesome residents.

Chloe and Hayden have a rivalry and hatred that has stood the test of time! It started in high school and years later, when Chloe moves back home, they’re right back at it.

I loved the flashback chapters as it really gives the reader an idea of what transpired between Chloe and Hayden, although we are kept guessing what was behind some of the pranks and what really happened right before Chloe moved away with a broken heart.

I could feel the sarcasm and animosity between these two. The snarky banter is extremely entertaining and hilarious at times.

Finally deciding to put aside their dislike for one another, for the sake of Hayden’s daughter and the small tight knit community (who seems more invested in their relationship than they should be), they begin a new normal. Princess and Hades, their hateful nicknames for each other, even start to sound more sweet.

Being friendly seems to lead to fantasies and lust filled thoughts. Pranks and mean jabs turn to flirting and teasing which escalates quickly to incredibly steamy!!

This was definitely my favourite book of the series...Chloe and Hayden story was filled with angst and humour while we also get all the sweet and the hot hot hot!

4 Stars!

POV: Dual (1st Person)
Tropes: Enemies-to-lovers, Single dad
Triggers: None

Likes: I love Hayden! He comes across as this bad boy, when really he’s just always wanted Chloe and would rather her argue with him than not be in his life. He’s a big softy and amazing dad! Plus a very dirty talker!

Dislikes: I'm not a huge fan of flashback chapters, as they kind of take me out of the story, but I can see why they were needed in this case. I also wanted to shake Hayden towards the end!

Synopsis: Love Words follows Chloe as she returns to her hometown of Landry, where she soon bumps into high school enemy Hayden. She hasn't seen him in eight years, after the night he wrecked her life...or did he? Once the school's bad boy, Hayden now lives a very different life being a single dad to his asthmatic daughter. When he discovers Chloe is her healthcare provider, he knows they need to put their old rivalry to bed. He just hopes that bed will be his.

Can Hayden finally explain what happened all those years ago? Or will it be too little too late? And will their newly founded truce lead to a happily ever after or take them right back to square one?

Another hit in the Landry series, full of sweetness and steam!

I'm freaking Swooning so hard right now😍😍😍😍

AHH.. I'm all feeling mushy and all over the place with all the Sweetness, awe-filled blast I had reading this one.

How does Ms. Alves makes me feel so much more with each book in the series. I can't believe how each new couple makes me fall all the more harder for them.
This one though, definitely turned out to be extra special.

Chloe is the resident nurse practitioner in the town of Landry where even though her family lives, she has only recently moved here.

Hayden has taken over the bar tending duties from Evan, the previous manager/bartender. He's back in the town of Landry after so many years to finally settle down with his little baby girl. A cute six year old adorable sweet girl.
He also works at the tire shop but dreams of someday making it his own.

Chloe and Hayden have a hate-hate relationship going back when they were in high school. Things happened back then that make Chloe still not like Hayden.

Hayden used make fun of Chloe but then the so called incident happened which escalated things to sour ends.

Now seeing each other after so many years, Hayden wants to clarify what actually happened then but Chloe is not at all interested in any of his explanations.

But their paths unwantingly keep on crossing with each other. Where Chloe first is the nurse on duty to check up on Kinsley, hayden's daughter and then also become her sorta coach.
Also when baby sitting duties also fall in chloe's lap, Kinsley and Chloe get all the more closer.

Kinsley, that girl is such an adorable little one. I loved how sweet and witty her banter would be with both Chloe and Hayden. Also she's just so innocent and sweet with her antics how could one not fall for her.

Especially that incident with the pizzas and many others had me laughing out loud so many times. I had a freaking blast where Chloe and Kinsley were. Also where Kinsley would ask awkward questions to her dad.

Also I loved seeing our previous favorite couples, Jess and Emma and Lauren and Taylor were doing. I loved to see where they are in life right now and seeing them so happy just made me oh so ecstatic.

Things do happen to make them both realise each other's importance but that last scene.. OH MY I WAS MELTED COMPLETELY WITH ALL THAT SWEETNESS AND SWOONING LIKE CRAZY.

Ahhh.. I'm absolutely in love with this entire series and this book was another freaking blast with all the amazing feels and awesomeness of small town beauty and relationships. My favorite though are especially the times with Kinsley but have to say all Chloe and Hayden together times were also oh so sweet and filled with deep feels do sure. Loved loved this one. 💖💖💖💖💖

Oh My Heart!!
Hayden Daniels you can give me all of your Love Words every day.
Bad boy Hayden and sweet Chloe were high school enemies. They gave each other attitude, had public smackdowns, and played juvenile pranks on each other.
Until one final encounter between them left teen Chloe absolutely humiliated and saw Hayden leave town. But did Chloe ever find out the truth?

Now eight years later Hayden has returned. And while his young daughter may be adorable, there is no way in this lifetime Chloe will ever forgive what he did to her.
Or will she? I mean the man does have dimples. Does she really stand a chance?
Gosh these two took me on a rollercoaster of emotions.
Chloe is smart, successful and extremely full of sass when it comes to Hayden. And Hayden simply feeds the banter between them. It's like history repeating for these two.
I adored Chloe even if like her friends I wanted to give her a girl you need to calm your farm speech when it came to pushing Hayden's buttons. And then towards the end Hayden had me frustrated and doubting whether I still wanted him to be my big spoon. hehe.
But then....
Damn he upped the romance and swoon and I was all in!!!

I adored this enemies to lovers small town romance story. The banter between these two is hilarious and possibly foreplay. The romance is sweet and swoon-worthy, and the chemistry is undeniable and steamy. The angst is heart aching, but the epilogue and HEA is beautifully heartwarming. And of course special mention to Kinsley, Hayden's daughter. Gosh I loved her hilarious, sweet, energetic, and no filter spirit.

A Highly Recommended Read! I look forward to the next book in the series.

Hayden Daniels and Chloe Caldwell. Never friends, always enemies. There’s a lot of history between them, and now they’re both living in small town Landry again. Although they’re both mature adults, the snarky bickering they’ve always had with each other seems to resurface whenever they’re in the same room. But when Chloe becomes Hayden’s daughter Kinsley’s primary health caretaker, they decide to form an unwilling truce. But as Hayden and Chloe spend more time together, the death glares and snarky banter are slowly replaced with lust filled expressions and nonstop flirting. But Chloe and Hayden both have their own demons, and now, they have to decide if what they have is worth fighting for.

Okay, so Hayden and Chloe are my favorite couple in this series. The chemistry between them was so obvious, even from the very beginning of the novel. They are so incredibly perfect for each other. Chloe is absolutely brilliant. She’s smart, kind, and knows how to stand up for herself, which is something I’ve always admired in a heroine. As for Hayden, he is so much more than what he seems to be. He might’ve been a bad boy once, but he’s truly changed, and he stepped up to become the most amazing father to his adorable little girl. He is quite literally swoonworthy. This book made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me want tho throw my kindle at the wall… Alves has truly outdone herself with this book.

You won’t need to have read the books before this one in the series to know what’s happening. Hayden and Chloe are sworn enemies, all thanks to a less than impressive first meeting as teenagers. Or are they? Hayden had a hand in the final humiliation for Chloe before she left town, and she’s not ready to forgive or forget now. Especially since he hasn’t changed. But maybe things have just been a tad out of focus for so long that Hayden only seems to be the villain.

As more came out, I had to like Hayden. Sure, he went about some of his stunts the wrong way, but he meant well. And riling Chloe up was just a bonus. But when he and Chloe are forced to finally acknowledge their feelings, will it all change for the better? Or will one of them revert to old defenses and ruin it all?

I truly enjoyed this read and wanted to shake some sense into one of these two a few times. And boy, did that person need it. But the glory of small town living is nosy neighbors making sure to push until everything comes out, so these two couldn’t lick their wounds for too long. And that apology? Gold. The first grovel, then the messages and the buildup, then the second grovel sealed it. These two are meant to be.

I’m going yo have to come back for more of this town, too. Because it looks like Chloe’s brother has a story of his own to tell next.

I don’t know if I have adequate words for The Love Words. This book cemented Amy Alves as one my favorite authors. I started with reading book one in her Landry Love series and felt like each book got better and better. This one was no exception. Her exceptional writing and character development pull you in and make you want to finish the book in one sitting. I loved getting to know Chloe, Hayden, and Kinsley. The inclusion of the side characters that we’ve met in previous books only adds to the hysterics and enjoyability of the story.
One of the things that Amy does well is introduce you to the main conflict early on the story without revealing all the details. She takes you on a ride getting to know the characters while keeping that conflict in the background. Then, when the characters have a come to Jesus moment and all is revealed past hurts are soothed and sparks fly!
In my opinion, this is the steamiest book in the series. Chloe has no qualms about asking for what she wants and Hayden doesn’t hesitate to give it to her.
On more than one occasion, Alves brought a tear to my eye whether from the conflict Hayden and Chloe endured or the sweet HEA they got in the end.
Highly recommend this sweet and steamy small town romance! Books can be read as stand-alones but are best read in order.

Chloe & Hayden

“You were royalty, and I was your peasant, never having a place in your world.”

Landry is a small town I was introduced to three books back, and you can’t help but fall in love with this little town and the people in it. You meet Chloe and Hayden in prior books and because of the animosity and hurt your left wanting their story.
We finally get it! We get to know everything past and present between these two.

Hayden is a single dad to the most adorable little girl ever. Chloe is a nurse and super involved within the community. Their little town meddles in everything but it’s all backed by heart.

There’s so much fun banter between these two. They spent time in high school pranking each other and even now Chloe has major sass towards Hayden, who she nicknamed Hades.

I love watching their connection. How Hades flirts with Chloe and she’s so obviously to it until it’s spelled out for her. I love the relationship Chloe not only builds with Hayden but his daughter. And I love how involved some of our favorite past characters are as well.

Now who do we get next…. I’m guessing/hoping for Sean!

Chloe was the town princess and Hayden was the town bad boy. The two of them were enemies from the moment they met as teenagers. They both left their small town, but now both of them are back and their paths are crossing again. Will they be able to call a truce once and for all?

I absolutely loved both Chloe and Hayden from the start. I loved the chemistry that is between them. I loved the back and forth banter and the push and pull of their relationship. From the start you can’t help but want the two of them to be together and get over what happened in the past between them. When they finally gave into each other it is explosive and I couldn’t get enough of it.

Kinsley, that little girl stole the show. She is absolutely adorable. I loved how Hayden protective Hayden is of his daughter and the Father/Daughter moments between them are absolutely sweet. She brings out a whole new side to him. I also loved seeing Kinsley and Chloe together. They formed an instant bond that was sweet and a strong friendship.

If you’re looking for a small town, single dad, enemies to lovers romance this is one to check out!

I absolutely adored this book. I've loved all of Amy's books and couples but The Love Words might be my favorite one of the series.
Hayden is the dreamy, single-dad with a past, but also the perfect match to Chloe. His relationship with Kinsley was beautiful and the way he treated Chloe *chef's kiss*. Chloe reminded me of myself and the way she acted both in high school and the present - she had a tough time letting go of what happened in her past and I can relate to that. She's a kind-hearted, kid-loving, nurse practitioner who eventually breaks down Hayden's walls after her own are destroyed. The banter between the two of them is pure gold and hilarious at times. I also loved getting to see a glimpse of our previous couples and their new babies! Overall, this is a fabulous book and I can't wait to read the rest of the Landry Love series.
I would suggest reading the first books in the series so you get the back story between the other couples, but it is NOT necessary in order to dive into this book! Happy reading! :)

Amy writes a beautiful second chance, single dad, small town romance that has you feeling all sorts of emotions. Amy's novels always grab your attention and The Love Words is no exception.

Chloe & Hayden were high school enemies. He was the bad boy and she was a good girl. From day the first day they met, Hayden did nothing be cause her grief. His way of showing her that he likes her was to rile her up. Chloe thought he was the bad boy that got under her skin but liked him. When something happens in their last year of school that caused Chloe heartache and embarrassment.

Jump eight years and they are both back to their small home town. Hayden has a daughter that he loves and is trying to give her a wonderful life. In walks Chloe and she ends up being Hayden's daughter health care provider. They have decided to call a truce with the bickering because of Kinsley, his daughter. Can they leave the past in the past? Can Chloe ever forgive him? Will Hayden tell her the truth about what really happened back in high school? When lines are blurred and one person pulls back, can the other survive?

I loved the chemistry between the two of them. They really had a love/hate relationship. Amy always delivers a romance that grabs your heart and has it beating a little faster.

I absolutely love Landry, every single person in that town is a wonderful character! Another fantastic, witty, steamy read that I couldn't put down. I had to stay up late into the night to finish this beautiful story because I just couldn't put it down. I am especially attached to Chloe thanks to her hatred of people stealing her food, lol. I love Chloe's witty banter, and her ability to put Hayden in his place. These two have had chemistry and a hate relationship since their teenage years. Now that they are both back in Landry as adults the sparks really fly. If you like strong witty women who know what they want, and strong, dominant men who are teddy bears on the inside then this book is for you. Can't forget the wonderfully meddlesome small town of Landry and its hilarious residents who have no filter.

Warning: Do not read this book sneakily at work, or in any quiet place- you will get caught laughing out loud!

#Teamchloden all the way! I love the fighting, the sexual tension, the hidden feelings! This story is amazing! It’s funny and heart warming, a true small town romance that will leave you ready to pack up and move to Landry!

I absolutely adored Hayden (even when he was to dumb to get out of his own way), he’s smart, funny, sexy, and an amazing father! I was so proud of Chloe for overcoming her past hurts and realizing what she deserved. I loved her fire as much as Hayden does! And the League is definitely something else- as much as I love them, I’m glad they don’t exist where I live 😂.

This book is such a great read! You should definitely go pick it up!

The Love Words is angsty and MESMERIZING! A great enemies to lovers, single dad romance with a strong heroine and heart-stoppingly delicious hero. A wonderful, uplifting read about moving forward, letting go of the past and being loved so completely it takes your breath away. The push and pull, and back and forth between Chloe & Hayden is OFF THE CHARTS. Heartfelt, funny, sexy, and hella swoony. This book had me laughing, mad, and swooning. Sometimes all at the same time. I laughed so hard at their witty snark and at the antics of the Landry League. This is truly a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I’ve just finished The Love Words and oh my, this book gave me allll the feels!

So what’s it about? When Chloe Caldwell returns to her home town Landry, she is determined not to let former hell raiser and now single dad Hayden Daniels rile her like he did in high school. Unfortunately Hayden and Chloe can’t seem to stay away from each other, and when Chloe becomes involved in Hayden’s daughter’s life, she sees another, more sensitive side to him and things start to get complicated . . .

I LOVED everything about this book, from the small town setting where everyone knows everyone’s business but always have their neighbour’s backs, to the cast of colourful and loveable characters, and laugh out loud moments. The author perfectly brought the characters to life and the dialogue is spot on. Hayden has officially made it into my small harem of book boyfriends with his winning combination of sweet but spicy and Chloe is the type of heroine I’d love as a friend – strong, kind, funny and determined.

Enemies to lovers is my favourite romance trope and it’s beautifully executed with a potent blend of sizzling chemistry, red hot spice and a sprinkle of angst. The relationship between Kinsley, Chloe and Hayden is adorable and really pulled at my heartstrings.

There’s a lot of lovely comedic moments in the book thanks to the meddling townsfolk as they attempt to throw Chloe and Hayden together.

Despite not having read the other books in the Landry Love series, I was able to dive straight into the story, but I’ve already bought the other three so that I can catch up on the backgrounds of all the other characters as I’m desperate to know more.

The Love Words is a fabulous, feel good read and Amy Alves has now become a one-click author for me.

Absolutely love this story. We get to return to the town of Landry in book four of the Landry series. The characters in this town and their antics.
Hayden and Chloe are a phenomenal couple. Loved the banter between these two. The chemistry between them is freakin explosive. I couldn’t get enough of this book. The neighbors up to their match making again.
The emotional rollercoaster ride this story takes you on will leave you wanting more. If you haven’t read the books in this series you have got to. It is a must read because this author knows her stuff.

The Love Words was incredibly sweet and not what I expected at all. Without giving away spoilers, the title applies both to Hayden and Chloe as well as Hayden's daughter. The explanation for it is almost too sweet and had me dabbing my eyes and smiling. For a book about enemies to lovers, this one also had a tremendous amount of heart. I loved it! Might be my favorite one of all the Landry Love Series. But lets be honest, that's a hard decision because they are all great!

Sigh. I do love the characters of Landry. Alves has constructed the perfect small town with all the quirks and charm, including epic levels of nosiness, kooky characters, as well as a good dose of mischief and mayhem. Chloe and Hayden are lucky (unlucky?) enough to have caught the attention of The Landry Life League who believe they are actually perfect for each other. It takes some doing, including finagling Chloe to coach baseball, but eventually they knock that HEA out of the park.

Chloe and Hayden are a daze I never want to awaken from. Alves delivers emotional overload with The Love Words. From love-hate attraction to irresistible romance, I couldn't help but give my heart over to this adorably mismatched couple.
