Namma Metro Purple Line: Routes, Stations, Fares, Timings & More!

 Namma Metro has been operational for almost 10 years now. Operations began back in October 2011. It has given Bangalore’s students & workforce a quick & accessible public transportation option. Before the pandemic, it saw over 5,00,000 commuters on a daily basis.

As of now, most of the first phase of the Bangalore Metro is functioning. This phase has two lines — the purple line (East-West corridor) & the green line (North-South corridor). The two lines intersect at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station, Majestic. Commuters can switch between metro lines at this station.


In this blog, we’re going to take you through the purple line of Namma Metro. Keep reading to find out all the stations, routes, timings and fares for this line!

Currently, the purple line stretches from Baiyyappanahalli in the east to Mysore Road in the southwest. This line stretches for 18.22km at the moment. As of now, there are 17 stations on this line. There are 20 more stations that are in the plans for this line.

Please Note: At the moment, metro trains aren’t operational because of a lockdown in Karnataka.

As for future plans for the metro, the pandemic has definitely created an obstacle. However, work is still in progress! Ultimately, the purple line would extend from Baiyyappanahalli to Whitefield on one end. This stretch is expected to be completed by June 2022. On the other end it would extend from Mysore Road to Challaghatta, part of which is expected to be completed by mid 2021. The rest of it is estimated to be completed in the next two years.
